OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

Dr. Goodburn’s Foundation

The Dr. Goodburn’s Foundation was created to help those whose voices have not been acknowledged, even after decades of pleading to be heard, and many unnecessary deaths.

Our mission is to provide medical supplies, equipment and eventually a fully functioning medical facility to the abandoned people of Vieques, Puerto Rico. All of these things have been promised to the people for years and have not been delivered.

Vieques suffered a tragic loss after Hurricane Maria hit their island on September 20, 2017. Their health clinic was destroyed and they were provided with a simple, makeshift “ER” – a tiny, one floor unit that is equipped to do no more than cast a broken bone or provide IV hydration fluids. There are times and days when the doctor isn’t even on the premise.  Can you imagine being pregnant and going into labor, having signs of a heart attack or your child having a 103-degree fever and you have to ride a ferry and travel for almost two hours to get to the closest hospital to a doctor?  Can you imagine having to ride that same ferry and travel a total of 80 kilometers to get your chemo treatments every week?

Dr. Goodburn’s Foundation is dedicated to providing the families of Vieques with basic human needs in the form of decent medical care and a proper facility in which to receive care.  We are providing the families of Vieques with an opportunity for a happy and healthy future.  All families deserve basic medical care; will you help us to provide long overdue healthcare to the families of Vieques?
